Facilities

The core of the geospatial research and support at Clemson University takes place in the Clemson Center for Geospatial Technologies facility located in Cooper Library.

CCGT Workspaces

GIS Training Facility

Cooper 406A

The training facility is a dedicated space for GIS training and workshops, seminars, summer school, webinars, class support, and customized training sessions.

This state of the art room features 20 student workstations, each with dual monitors, a comprehensive set of GIS software, and direct access to our GalaxyGIS Condor pool for parallel processing.

Presenters can make use of the two projection screens to simultaneously display multiple workspaces, such as a presentation and software demonstration.

Collaborative Room

Cooper 412

Our GIS collaborative space offers a place for groups to work together on their projects. There are 12 GIS workstations available to walk-in users with direct access to GalaxyGIS as well as a collaborative table, where groups can display their laptop screens onto a large monitor.

The room is home to our Augmented Reality Sandbox, which allows users to create topography models by shaping real sand which is augmented in real time with an elevation color map, topographic contour lines, and simulated water. Faculty, students, and local community members are encouraged to contact us to schedule a demonstration of the sandbox.

Students and faculty can experience virtual reality using HTC Vive and attend real demonstration of UAV and LiDAR scanning technologies.

Testimonial

"Thank you for allowing the group of students from Pendleton High School to tour your area and use the Virtual Sandbox. They thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the lava and dinosaurs."
