GIS Day 2021
Please join us in celebrating GIS Day at Clemson University on Wednesday, November 17, 2021!
In partnership with Clemson University Student Government's Tiger Tech Week, we are hosting an open house in Cooper 412 where students can explore, learn, connect, participate in our contests, and win one of the many prizes we give away every year.
We will kick off the festivities with our popular GeoAmbassador series, where students at Clemson teach state-of-the-art GIS techniques. Don't miss this year's event that focuses on working with point cloud LiDAR data.
Come by 412 Cooper Library by 1pm to participate in all the fun activities we have planned for you!

1pm - 3pm LiDAR Workshop: Creating a 3D Digital Twin (Cooper 406A)
As part of our GeoAmbassador series, Madeleine Bolick, PhD Candidate in
Forestry & Environmental Conservation, will be teaching how to turn LiDAR
data into a digital twin of a city.
Attendees will learn how to extract building footprints and create 3D
buildings for realistic representation of urban areas.
3pm - 3:45pm Open House & Contests (Cooper 412)
Following the hands-on workshop, staff at the Clemson Center for Geospatial Technologies will host an open house in our collaborative space located in room 412 of Cooper Library. All are invited to learn more about our drone and LiDAR equipment, our student organization: Clemson Mappers, and upcoming opportunities for innovation and collaboration using the latest geospatial technologies.
Dig your hands into our augmented reality sandbox, navigate new or familiar places using our VR equipment, explore your artistic side coloring a 3D printed model of Clemson's main campus, and vote for your favorite story map.
Map Gallery Contest
The map gallery will display a collection of interactive maps and dashboards produced by students and researchers at Clemson during the past year. To submit yours, please follow this link.
Attendees are invited to vote for their favorite entry using this form.
