Performing Network Analysis without using credits
To perform network analysis on medium to large datasets, or that require a high number of computations, you will need to use a local reference dataset installed in the hard drive of the computer that you are using instead of ArcGIS Online services. Below are the instructions to achieve this based on your particular set up.
If you are using your own computer:
To perform network analysis on your own computer, you will need to have ArcGIS Pro, and Business Analyst Data installed. Installing Business Analyst data components to your local hard drive will require approximately 150 GB of disk space. Check the Business Analyst system requirements here before downloading and installing the data. Below are the instructions to achieve this:
1. Download, install and authorize Business Analyst Data. You can find instructions here.
2. Download and install ArcGIS Pro. You can find instructions here.
3. Open ArcGIS Pro. Click the Analysis tab, and on the tool ribbon, click the Network Analysis drop-down menu.
4. Click Change network data source at the bottom of the menu. The Select Network Data Source dialog box appears.
5. Click the Browse button to browse to the location of the network dataset you want to use.
:\...\arcgis\Business Analyst\US_20**\Data\Streets Data\NorthAmerica.gdb\Routing_ND
6. Select Routing_ND network dataset and click OK. The selected network dataset is set as the default.
Refer to the video above if you have any questions.
If you are using the GIS computers at Clemson:
1. Go to cuapps.clemson.edu and enter your regular Clemson ID and password. On the top menu, select Desktops and then click on your GIS lab to get access to one of the computers in that GIS lab.
2. Open ArcGIS Pro. Click the Analysis tab, and on the tool ribbon, click the Network Analysis drop-down menu.
3. Click Change network data source at the bottom of the menu. The Select Network Data Source dialog box appears.
4. Click the Browse button to browse to the location of the network dataset you want to use.
C:\arcgis\Business Analyst\US_20**\Data\Streets Data\NorthAmerica.gdb\Routing_ND
5. Select Routing_ND network dataset and click OK. The selected network dataset is set as the default.
